Light Painting Tools Buying Guide 2026

This is the fourth annual edition of the Light Painting Tools Buying Guide. This article contains information and links to a wide range of companies from around the world that manufacture tools for light painting photographers and flow artists. Check with each company for worldwide shipping availability and limitations. Light Painting Brushes (USA)

One of the original and most well known light painting systems, created by Jason D Page. Light Painting Brushes produce an extensive range of light painting tools including plexiglass blades, fiber optic brushes, light swords, light writers, light pens, glitter sticks, and the occasional limited edition product. These tools connect to a wide range of torches/flashlights via the Universal Connector.

Ants On A Melon (USA)

Ants On A Melon (AOAM) burst back into the light painting scene in 2022 with the RGB Critter flashlight, which was a big step up from previous RGB flashlights. The latest version is the RGB Critter BT, with Bluetooth app connectivity. This light is compatible with an extensive range of light painting tools including the Modular Sol Saber, Modular Lumi Saber, Light Painting Blades, BitWhip, Jupiter Rope, Fiber Optic Dusters, and Orb Tool. AOAM products are also very popular in the flow arts scene.

The Light-Painting Store / Light Painting Tubes (Canada)

The Light Painting Store was created by tube light painting and YouTube aficionado Eric Pare. Light Painting Tubes sell an extensive range of T8 tubes, (Holo) Squares, Whips, and other accessories. These products are mainly based around the AX2 adapter system. The legacy Liteblades KYO system now appears to be discontinued.


Luminosify (UK)

Luminosify was founded in 2021, and sell a wide range of different T8 tubes, known as "Choobs", between 40cm and 1m in length. The unique Tri-Colour Evolved/Remix Choobs result in very impressive colour fades.

RGB LightPainter (UK)

A UK based company who are now selling production versions of the Beacon Mini RGB torch/flashlight, Sabre, Glorope, and Glyph calligraphy tools.


Ben D Woods Photography (Australia)

Ben Woods manufactures the Walkback Scanner, a type of Backlight Scanner.

Light Painting King (Germany)

Light Painting King sell a range of T8 tubes (including waterproof versions) and light blades, as well a wide range of torch specific T8 tube adapters.


Magnetic Lights (France)

New light painting tool manufacturer by French light painter Jadikan, with a novel magnetic attachment system. Good for light calligraphy and light drawing.

Light Painting Accessories (UK)

Mark Cox (UK) makes useful 3D printed light painting accessories which interconnect lights and tools from Ants On A Melon, Light Painting Paradise , Light Painting Brushes, and Luminosify Choobs. He also sells coloured Cone Tips for a variety of light painting systems, and tube jackets for Luminosify Choobs. Contact via social media. Light Excursion (Canada)

Frank Parhizgar is back, making orb and laser tools. New flashlights are in the works.


Shellboy Photography (Germany)

Shellboy Photography has created the (free to install and use) LightCode app, for creating light trails with text and emojis using smart phones.

Nanlite (China)

Nanlite make a large range of photography lights. Nanlite makes this list thanks to the Pavotube T8-7X which is a well-priced, 3ft long light tube with 10 pixel effects modes for creating light trails.


Stephen Knight Photography (Australia)

Yes, that's me! I sell very limited edition acrylic light painting tools in small batches. Compatible with Light Painting Paradise adapters. 2026 may see compatibility with other connectors. I also sell Lightroom presets, prints, and e-books.

LightTubePro (Netherlands)

LighTubePro sells a range of plexiglass tubes (narrower than T8 tubes) and a small selection of light blades.


DKL Pro Tools (Spain)

Children of Dark Light produces the Scanner Calligraphy DKL Pro tool, and "all in one" light for creating light trails and illuminating scenes or models.

Threeworlds (Australia).

Threeworlds is a "music, movement, and meditation" company based on the Gold Coast in Australia. Whilst the RGB Concentrate C5 is sadly discontinued, they do sell glow staffs, poi products, and lots of musical instruments.


Carles Domenech (Spain)

Carles Domenech sells a wide range of unique light painting tools, including the Degradeitor and Trazador V2.0 light bars.


Ignis Shop (Czech Republic)

Ignis produce a wide range of flow arts tools including colour changing pois, hula hoops, sticks, staffs, and a colour changing RGB torch for light painting.


L.A.C.E. (UK)

L.A.C.E. will be back later in 2026, selling a 3D printed Backlight Scanner, with custom sized connector for your choice of torch/flashlight. Contact via social media.

DARIUSTWIN (USA)

DARIUSTWIN, AKA light drawing stop motion expert Darren Pearson, sells the Night-Writer light pen, for which each batch often sells out rapidly.


Fiberflies (USA)

Flow arts manufacturer, and creator of the Pixelwhip 4. Sold by other re-sellers in some markets.


GloFX (USA)

Flow arts manufacturer, and creator of the Space Whip Remix, Cosmic Cable, and Hypno Levitation Wand.


Pyroterra / Lighttoys (Czech Republic)

Pyroterra Lighttoys are a high end, flow arts manufacturer of the programmable Visual Poi, Visual Wand, Visual Hoop, and LED Buugeng.


Moodhoops (USA)

Flow arts manufacturer with a wide range of products including the programmable Future Hoop, Future Poi, and Future Staff.


Neoflowart (Russia)

Flow arts manufacturer based in Russia, with worldwide shipping. Wide range of products.


Lume Tools (Spain)

Lume Tools sells a calligraphy Light Bar and Backlight Scanner. Contact via social media.


Lightpainting.me (Germany)

Lightpainting.me sell a range of light painting blades, adapters, specialist torches, and remote switches for torches. These include the Magic-Tube, Magic-Light, and Magic-Strobe. Note: As of 05/01/26, their website was not available, so the current status of the business is unknown.

Light Painting Paradise (Spain)

One of the OG light painting companies. Light Painting Paradise (LPP) produced a flexible range of professional quality light painting tools including Plexi Rods, Plexiglass Shapes/Blades, Fiber Optic Brushes, Colour Filters, and Fiber Optic Cables. 2024 saw the release of the impressive LightPainter - Ryu's Lightworks V2.0 torch/flashlight and new Orb Tool. Unfortunately, Light Painting Paradise closed at the end of 2025, but their tools will continue to be popular with light painters.
